An Introduction to Writer Effects in Research

An Introduction to Writer Effects in ResearchThe writer effect is a phenomenon in the studies of research methods, and the use of this effect may be affected by the researcher's intentions. As an example, in a study on the effect of acupuncture in improving health, it would be expected that acupuncture would have a positive effect on both the quality of life and the survival rate of the participants. This question Nia Vaughan asked herself can be read as: If you believe that acupuncture is effective in curing pain, then it will have a higher survival rate? However, if you don't believe acupuncture works, then your survival rate will be lower. Although, I agree with her premise that there will be an effect, we should analyze what the effects of this effect are.One thing that skeptics do not like to talk about is that the skeptic literature is filled with critics who criticize the methods of the 'Skeptics.' These critics make no bones about it, they are critical of the methods and any c onclusions drawn. The statements made by these critics are often not supported by the data they provide. In other words, in many cases, they are just plain wrong! The skeptic literature is full of the variety of objections that the different researchers make. All scientists have criticisms, but some of the most common criticisms made by critics are: Credibility, Academic dishonesty, Incompetence, Falsification, Indolence, Lack of experimental controls, Mystery, Narcissism, Objectivity, Positioning, Prejudice, Viewpoint, and Vagueness. Although I haven't seen this criticism used against the writers of the skeptic's literature, they might be applied.Another criticism of the writer effect is the notion that reviewers write about their own research for praise and popularity. Although this has been said before, let me say it again. Some of the criticisms I listed above are valid criticisms and many of them have merit. Nonetheless, the evidence has not yet been released that demonstrates t he existence of the writer effect. Finally, the best criticism has to do with researcher attitude and the mindset of researchers. Researchers have the tendency to be self-centered and arrogant. It is easy to see this from the data that is available, but since the process of evaluation of the research is a subjective process and each person has his or her own ways of looking at it, you cannot say with certainty whether the researcher was unbiased or not. There is, however, the argument that the effects are really the result of things like writer's bias and arrogance, rather than the result of the writer effect. There is nothing to prove that there is really a writer effect in scientific studies, but there are some things that the writer effect affects the researchers. So, the writer effect appears to be present, but there is no proof of its existence. However, the writer effect has nothing to do with the writer, as in a true writer effect, the writer does not exist. When writing an essa y, the writer will be less biased than if they were writing a scientific paper, so the writer effect might not apply, but when someone writes an essay, the writer effect does apply!

Juvenile Diabetes Essay - 987 Words

Living with Juvenile Diabetes Diabetes medically known as diabetes mellitus is the name given to disorders in which the body has trouble regulating its blood glucose, or blood sugar, levels. Diabetes is due to one of two mechanisms inadequate production of insulin (which is made by the pancreas and lowers blood glucose) or inadequate sensitivity of cells to the action of insulin. (Definition). There are two different forms of diabetes: Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 diabetes is known as insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Type 2 diabetes is known as non-insulin-dependent. Type 1 diabetes often develops in children, adolescents, and young adults, so its sometimes called juvenile diabetes. â€Å"According to the American Diabetes†¦show more content†¦Hyperglycemia results when a glucose level rises above 120 mg/dL. A random blood draw is obtained at any point in the day and sent for testing. A level greater than 200 mg/dL is positive for diagnosis. Because there is no cure, diabetes is controlled be diet, exercise, and medication. Type 2 diabetics can often control the disease process by diet and exercise alone. control (Coombs 2014). These points have been explained below, Quality Management Approach: The quality management approach is used for the development of a specific approach for the project of Site Demolition at Goyder Street and it would form the development of the effective processing and improvement. According to Kim and de Dear (2013), the development of the quality management approach would be helpful for developing the quality management plan. Quality Standards: The quality standards for the project of Site Demolition at Goyder Street would comprise of using high quality of the tools, techniques, equipments, and other skills for the achievement of the specific demolition of the building and it is developed by following the ACT Standard Specification for Urban Infrastructure Works Edition 1 Revision 0 October 2002 (ACT Standard Specification). Quality Assurance: The quality assurance for the project of Site Demolition at Goyder Street would comprise of making sure that the project would not harm the environment and surroundings of the site of Goyder Street. Quality Control: The quality control for the project of Site Demolition at Goyder Street would be developed for controlling the activities of the project so that a specific quality control can be implied. The work health safety plan for the project of Site Demolition at Goyder Street would comprise of following the guidelines of the Environment and Planning Directorate (EPD) and Environment Protection Agreement with the EPA (Montmasson-Clair and Ryan 2014). The work health safety plan should also abide by the norms of the WHO set for the construction project and it would be reasoned for the development of the specific plan of operations for the management of the health and safety plan. The work health safety plan includes the Safe Work Procedure, Training and Competency, Emergency Plans, Inspections, and Accidents. The safety plan would be formed for ensuring that the activities of the project of site demolition would be done successfully (Martin 2017). The work health safety plan would be formed for the development of the specific analysis of the work and safety plan. A Procurement and Logistics Plan The procurement and logistics plan is developed for various contractors included in the project of Site Demolition at Goyder Street such as ActewAGL (Electricity Gas), ICON Water (Water Sewer), Jemena (High Pressure Gas Services), ZNX (Gas services), Telstra (Telecommunications, EPU (soil erosion management, contamination hazardous materials removal disposal), Parks and City Services (Tree removal, tree protection), and ACT Government. The procurement logistics is developed for the development of the potential demand for the development of the specific integration development. The procurement document is formed for the analysis of the specific tools for the formation of the consumption. The procurement planning is made for developing the system for suppliers, prices, and quality of the services (Goetsch and Davis 2014). The terms of the delivery and payment option is formed for the formation of the processes. The key data in materials is formed for the planning of the specific p lan of operation. The logistic plan is formed for the development of the employment of the effective processes and formation. Ethical Framework Outline free essay sample

An Ethical and Spiritual Community Issue On the other hand, from my prospective, music has a way of soothing and causing reflection, but what about when it comes to age difference in the church? It would appear that church leaders have their part to provide music choices that will not only keep members, but to satisfy children, young adults and mature parallels. I believe music is a ministry in itself. It has as its structure the ability to calm, relax, motivate, restore, and to create a source of empowerment. However, if one choice of music is offered to parishes, the outcome in my opinion would not satisfactory. What can a church do to provide music variety? There Is traditional music, gospel music, contemporary music, rap music, pop, Instrumental, hip-hop music with strobe lights and R, and country music styles. Still there should be music appeal total diverse age groups, balance is key. We will write a custom essay sample on Ethical Framework Outline or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page In would appear however, that depending on the dominantly, there may be a consensus for a particular styles of music, still Is there rarity for everyone?Recently I visited a church where the music was up tempo, meaning the rhythm or pace involved movement of hands and feet. As I participated, wondered about the parishes who may not be able to participate, due to health constraints, limited mobility or this type of music appeal. I believe church leaders should pay close attention to music variety and to affirm what is being played or sung is an important issue. There should be guidelines or principles when it comes to music appeal in the church. It only stands to reason, that teens would listen to music which has appeal to their age, rather it be hip-hop or rap, the rhyme sets the mood for good listening, reverence and style. In order to resolve the dilemma of music variety, I would conduct a survey of music Likes and dislikes among the congregation. Once completed, I would then propose a change in composition or lyrics that appeal to the congregation, altering Sunday morning service or afternoon music to all age groups. This consensus I believe will provide a mixture of music styles, negating the hurt splits or loss of members due to limited method or approach of music choices. OFF traditional membership or seek paths to expand its direction? Introduction I selected this question to investigate is it right or wrong, ethically speaking, how does a church respond to the needs of the traditional membership or seek paths to expand its direction? Recently was speaking with a co-worker on my topic of my ethical dilemma framework. She spoke of church concerns while in college over the worship experience at it related to her Catholic upbringing and music, which med to be a repetition of the same thing, which seems to be pointless and meaningless. Her priest referred her way of thinking and reasoning as a Popular Culture. She accepted hi s opinion, however she still struggles with the thought of the worship experience at her church ten years ago. Since that time, many of the members either have moved away, the community experienced school closings her in district, or the congregation decreased in size due aging, sickness and death. Religion and Popular Culture can provide a means of inspiration and relaxation to the Sistine as the message is being conveyed. However, in the local church, there are cultures, youth versus a traditional culture, or what culture is right for church and its society as it relates to the community?
